As a young athlete, choosing the correct agent or management team will be one of the most important decisions of your professional career. It is essential to remember that your manager works for you and not the other way around. Before making your decision on who will represent you, do your research. Does the manager have clients performing at a high level with elite organizations/ promotions? Does the manager have contacts with major sponsors in your industry (clothing/ sports nutrition)? Does the manager have the ability to market you as a brand (social media, personal websites, newsletters or print media)? Is the manager more interested in personal fame or your career? And most importantly, how do your peers in your industry feel about the manager?
