Pro snowboarding beware, for a new threat is approaching from the west. At 24 years old Lauren Kreysar is poised to unleash a shred attack on the snowboard world that will leave many wondering where she came from. Born in San Diego, Lauren later moved with her family to Danville, California and got a house in Northstar to start training in the shred land of Tahoe.
Riding with the Northstar Team for two years, Lauren’s abilities were honed and refined to a razor-sharp edge. Soon Lauren was craving bigger air and greater challenges. At 17 Lauren stepped it up a notch and started riding with Squaw Valley’s team of elite riders. With a world-class pipe at her disposal and six expert coaches to provide direction, Lauren was soon dominating the super pipe at Squaw. Rotating both directions and landing switch with the confidence of a veteran, Lauren’s fearless attitude facilitated her progression. Utilizing Squaw Valley’s terrain park as a training ground, Lauren prepared herself for battle. Assaulting the kickers with reckless abandon Lauren quickly gained the respect of her peers and coaches alike.
Upon graduation from high school, Lauren relocated to Boulder, Colorado to pursue an undergraduate degree in Marketing at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado. After completing her first year, she had already been honored on the Dean’s List, and continued on to the National Scholars Honor Society her third year. This dose of reality hardly slowed Lauren’s professional snow sliding ambitions. Shortly after registration, Lauren joined the CU Boulder Snowboard Team for the first three years and is now continuing her ascension toward the ranks of professional female snowboarders.
Last season, while competing in one of the largest all female rail competitions in the nation, Lauren Kreysar suffered a devastating and life changing accident. While maneuvering a difficult trick on a rail she took a fall that left her needing to be airlifted off the mountain. This left her with a separated shoulder, two compound breaks of her humorous, severe nerve damage, and after five days in a hospital she was left with zero motor function of her right arm and shoulder, seven screws with a six inch titanium plate, and radial nerve palsy. Although with determination, rehab three days a week for eight months, and having to relearn how to write and perform simple tasks she regained motor function and the use of her right arm just in time for the new 2007/08 snowboard season.
Lauren currently rides six to seven days a week and lives in Summit County, Colorado. Lauren enjoys shredding through the park at Winter Park and dominating the rails and boxes at Breckenridge. She has also been sighted at Copper, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Keystone resorts. Lauren has been touring with the Chevy Revolution Tour, and hopes to get up in the ranks after her devastating accident last season. The season prior to the accident, Lauren competed in the boarder cross event at the Gravity Games, which was held at Copper Mountain Resort. Battling a border cross coarse that some referred to as; “Brutal,” and “The most technically demanding I have ever seen,” Lauren finished second in the consolation final (eighth overall). With an attrition rate of 50% due to injury, just finishing this course was a testament to Lauren’s ability
