10/27/13: Te Edwards Pro Debut Video
On Saturday October 26th, 2013, Te Edwards made his pro MMA debut at Shogun Fights IX in Baltimore Maryland at the Baltimore Arena (formerly the 1st Mariner Arena).
If you have never been to a Shogun Fights event or don't live in Maryland, the Baltimore Arena is a large venue. Shogun Fights typically has been 4,000 to 5,000 fans in attendance. Being the 1st fight on the card and making a pro debut infront of such a large crowd can rattle some. Te went out and did what we was trained to do....
10/11/13: Te Edwards makes Pro Debut
Te'Jovan "Te" Edwards, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia followed in his parents footsteps and became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2011 through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. His philosophies on functional exercise and athletically-based fitness motivated him to establish his own personal training business aimed at setting a new standard of being "in shape". Being a former collegiate athlete and current professional athlete, Edwards has a love for athletics and the hard work and training that goes into preparing for competition. In 2011, while attending Old Dominion University, he began training his teammates in the off-season to better prepare them for the next upcoming season. After he graduated he continued to train them as an intern for the athletic department. Edwards has worked with a wide range of individuals, varying from elementary youths to law enforcement & professional athletes. In the recent years he has trained many of the areas local athletes, as well as those at Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Western Kentucky, George Washington University, and many more.
Edwards began wrestling at the age of 11, where even then, he was known for his creative and athletic style. He attended Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach, where he compiled a 145-23 record, was a Virginia 3A state champion and a finalist at the NHSCA Senior National Championships. In college, He attended both Old Dominion and Arizona State University where he was a 2x Division 1 NCAA National Tournament qualifier and conference champion, ranking as high as #9 nationally. Over the years he has been coached by some of the most well known names in the sport such as Ben Askren, Steve Martin, Brian Stith, Shawn Charles, as well as Bryan Snyder and Raymond Jordan, who also coached Olympic champion, Jordan Burroughs.
After college, Edwards began training mixed martial arts in Virginia Beach at Hybrid Training Center. Shortly after, he made his debut at Elite Fighting Challenge 13 event where he upset a previously undefeated opponent with a thirty-eight second TKO. The victory earned him the lightweight championship title. He has trained at some of the top gyms in the country, including American Top Team and Power MMA as well as trained alongside the likes of Ryan Bader, Johny Hendricks, Robbie Lawler, Mike Brown, Bubba Jenkins, Aaron Simpson and many more. In 2013 he relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where trains out of The MMA Lab alongside former UFC Lightweight Champion, Ben Henderson, Joe Riggs and Jamie Varner. He is scheduled to make his professional debut in October of 2013.
